X-Parameter and Revenue Tracking Reporting

You can measure revenue tracking through x-parameters in Business Intelligence. X-parameters are components of URLs that are used to pass information through the checkout process, such as the source of revenue or other customerClosed An individual or business purchasing your product or service by placing an order through Cleverbridge. The customer is the end user of this product, as they are not allowed to resell the purchased products or services. ​ A customer is unique per client. If a customer purchases products or services from two different clients, there are 2 separate records of said customer.​ information. X-parameters begin with x-.

How X-Parameters are Shown

Business Intelligence only shows x-parameters when the Revenue Tracking Setup tool is configured in the Commerce Assistant. Otherwise, x-parameters are not shown in reporting. X-parameters are displayed in Business Intelligence approximately eight or more hours after being entered in the Commerce Assistant.

Tip

For reporting data integrity, it's important that you set up x-parameters in Revenue Tracking Setup before you use them.

Once you create the hierarchy within the Revenue Tracking Setup tool, the directories and sub-directories that have been assigned are accessible with Business Intelligence.

Create a Report with X-Parameters

To create a report, use the dimensions for Parameter 1, Parameter 2, and so on, depending on your hierarchy.

Note

If you select an x-parameter as a dimension, the report will only count orders made with the last x-parameter if a customer has been redirected from another x-parameter.

How Products are Counted in Orders

An orderClosed An agreement between a seller and a buyer to exchange goods and/or services for money. An order can: - contain multiple products and quantities; - have multiple financial transactions. A preorder authorization is considered an order. can contain more than one product. Depending on the measures and dimensions used, reports can generate different results when it comes to counting the number of products in an order.

Measuring the Number of Products Sold

If you want to measure the number of individual products sold, then use the Number of Order Items measure. This measure calculates at the product level. This means every product within an order is counted, regardless of whether there was more than one product in a single order.

Example

You want to measure the number of products that were sold, by country, last month. You use the Number of Order Items measure with the Country dimension, and you filter the report by Time, Last Month. The report generates the following results:

Measuring the Number of Orders Placed

If you want to measure the number of orders placed, then use the Number of Orders measure. This measure calculates at the order level and not for the individual products within an order. To create this calculation, only the first product in the order is counted, regardless of how many products were in the order.

Example

You want to measure the number of orders that were placed, by country, last month. You use the Number of Orders measure with the Country dimension, and you filter the report by Time, Last Month. The report generates the following results:

Note that in this example, the numbers are lower than in the Number of Order Items example above, because only the order itself is being counted and not the number of products within an order.

Calculation Changed for Product-Level Dimensions

When using the Number of Orders measure with the Product, Promotion, or AffiliateClosed An individual or a company that markets a product to potential customers. The Affiliate receives a commission on a specific action (also called event: e.g., sale, lead, click, visit etc.) previously agreed upon with you, the advertiser. This is because when counting the number of orders by product, the products themselves must be counted. Also, promotions and affiliates are associated with products and must therefore be counted at the product level and not the order level. Any other dimensions used with Number of Orders, such as Country, only count the first product in an order, as described above.

Example

You want to measure the number of orders, by product, last month. You use the Number of Orders measure with the Product dimension, and you filter the report by Time, Last Month. The report generates the following number of orders for these products:

Reporting on a Product Basis

Business Intelligence generates reports on a single product basis using the product ID as a unique identifier. A range of performance indicators that are available on an account level can also be reported on a product level. Performance indicators available on a product level include:

  • Conversion rate
  • Number of hits
  • Revenue
  • Number of orders
  • And others

Subscription Billing Reporting

The following includes information about reporting for subscriptions.

Expected Subscriptions Calculation

Expected subscriptions are calculated up to one year in advance under the assumption that there will be no subscription cancelations or new subscriptions. Only currently active subscriptions are counted.

Data Delay

Expected subscription data is delayed, as it takes a few days for the database to provide the data in real-time.

Free Trial Periods

Reports for subscription products with free trial periods do not trigger results in Business Intelligence. As soon as a paymentClosed Exchange of money for goods and services in an acceptable amount to the customer where the payment amount has been agreed upon in advance. The customer can only pay with an accepted payment method. Each payment has an individual payment cost. is made for the subscription interval, Business Intelligence provides results.

MVT Campaign Reporting

Business Intelligence allows you to create MVTClosed Multivariate testing (MVT) is a technique for testing two or more different variables in the checkout process to determine which variable creates more revenue or a higher conversion rate. campaign-specific reports. To do so, select MVT Campaigns from the Available Dimensions list and enter the specific MVT campaign ID in the IDs field in the Dimension Group section. The MVT campaign ID is provided with the name of the MVT campaign in the Commerce Assistant. To find the ID in the Commerce Assistant, open the MVT Campaigns search and search for the campaign.

Product List Reporting

If a product belongs to multiple product lists, the sum of orders for a product list might be higher than the total number of orders because the product is counted multiple times in a report. This results in the total number of orders being equal to or higher than when you group by product lists.

Exclude List Supported

Product lists with a list type of Exclude List are supported in Business Intelligence reporting. For more information, see the Commerce Assistant help for product lists.

Web Hits Reporting

There is a discrepancy regarding the number of web hits on a product level and other measures that include the number of hits for calculation. Data for web hits on a product level has been available only since July 1st, 2011, in Business Intelligence. Conversion of older data is not possible.
