Retain Subscription Customers

The Cleverbridge platform supports different ways to retain customers. The components of the Cleverbridge platform that support retentions, along with the retention-related use cases that they support, are identified below.

Checkout Process

Offer a discount to a customerClosed An individual or business purchasing your product or service by placing an order through Cleverbridge. The customer is the end user of this product, as they are not allowed to resell the purchased products or services. A customer is unique per client. If a customer purchases products or services from two different clients, there are 2 separate records of said customer.. The checkout process allows a customer to manually enter a coupon code. This is accomplished by the URL Generator API, which allows a client to pass a coupon code in a URL. Typically, the URL is embedded in a client email to a customer.

Commerce Assistant

  • Offer a discount to a customer. For more information, see Coupons in Add a Promotion.
  • Extend a trial period in a free trial subscription. For more information, see Subscription Statuses and Update Options > Update Options for Subscriptions for information about extending the next billing date.
  • Change the next billing date for a customer's subscription. For more information, see Subscription Statuses and Update Options > Update Options for Subscriptions for information about extending the next billing date.
  • Allow a customer to move from a subscription with a shorter billing interval to one with a longer billing interval (for example, from monthly to annually) or vice versa, effective immediately. For more information, see Set Up Subscription Products and see the option Cancelation product list. Implementing this change with the Commerce Assistant requires prior completion of the following:
    • Setting up two subscription products, with one having the shorter interval, and the other having the longer interval.
    • Placing both products in the same cancelation product list.
  • Issue a refund to a customer who converted a subscription to one with a shorter billing interval (for example, from annually to monthly), effective immediately. For more information, see Purchases ✱ > Purchases ✱ and see the status Partially Refunded. Currently, refunds can only be issued manually through the Commerce Assistant. This is typically performed by Cleverbridge Customer Support.
