To navigate chargebacks, we employ a proactive two-fold strategy, combining expert analysis and advanced technology. This approach results in significant fraud reduction, increased valid transactions, improved conversion rates, and an enhanced, secure customer experience.
However, what are chargebacks exactly?
A chargeback is a notification from a credit card issuer indicating the retrieval of funds from Cleverbridge. Chargebacks usually result from cardholders disputing an order and refusing payment.
Customers can initiate a chargeback within a span of up to six months, which means it may not always coincide with the initial purchase date.
Our Fraud Prevention team exercises judgment in selecting chargeback cases suitable for dispute. In such instances, they'll reach out to you and collect evidence to support the case. This evidence includes:
-
Correspondence between you and the customer
-
Screenshots or proof of the customer activating or using the product
-
Proof of delivery (if applicable)
-
A link to your refund policy, clarifying the order's ineligibility for a refund (if applicable)
-
Any other pertinent information for the card issuer's consideration
Keep in mind that Cleverbridge isn't informed about the specific reasons behind customer disputes. While Cleverbridge endeavors to contest eligible chargebacks, the final decision to overturn rests largely with the discretion of the cardholder's card issuer.
In order to be immediately contacted by our Fraud Prevention team, make sure you have set up an automated Notification for Chargeback Information Requests. For information on how to set up automated notifications, see Manage Notifications.
Refunds are not possible once a chargeback has been initiated for an order.
Upon the completion of a chargeback, we recommend deactivating the license.
