Product glossary
The following glossary includes terminology related to product setup on the Cleverbridge platform:
A
Additional name information
Short product description providing detailed information about the essential features of the product. The description appears as an additional line below the product in the shopping cart, review page, confirmation page, and customer emails.
Additional service
Extra services you offer your customers, such as technical support or extended download.
B
Base product
A base product is a template containing data that is passed down to its children products. It is used to manage multiple products with similar characteristics. Changes made to a base product are automatically inherited by all its children products. Base products minimize catalog maintenance and provide data consistency. They are particularly useful when setting up one product for multiple languages.
Base currency
Default currency that is used to define the product price.
Base price
Initial product price before any taxes or additional charges are applied.
Bundle
Product type which consists of a combination of two or more products sold together at a discounted price. Single products can’t be deleted from a bundle during the order process. Combined products in a bundle do not retain their individual product IDs. They use one bundle ID instead which has no impact on Multi-Item.

Client attribute
Information your company uses for internal purposes only. It includes internal product ID, internal name, and category.
Client product ID
A unique name you assign to a product so you can easily identify and keep track of your product. You can use your own product ID to trigger a product selection in the cart.
Synonyms: Internal ID
Client product name
Internal name your company uses to easily organize your product information. If you enter an internal name while setting up your product, this name is used throughout the Cleverbridge platform instead of the main product name. In the order process, however, customers see the main product name and not the internal name.

Delivery type
Method you can use to deliver product or service to customers. Depending on the method selected, additional setup options are required.
Dynamic product
A custom-configured product that displays a unique price, alternative product information, and a specific currency in the checkout. The dynamic product is based on an existing product and is created with a parameter that is added to the URL. For more information, see Offer dynamic products.

Key list
Pre-generated list of license keys uploaded to the Cleverbridge platform and used to activate purchased software.
L
License certificate
Physical certificate stating the customer bought a license for a product.
Localized product name
Product name for each language you select for your targeted market.
P
Perpetual product
Type of product where a customer acquires a perpetual software license and is charged once for the purchase. Life cycle changes are not possible.
Synonyms: one-time product
Plan selection
A pick list for customers to choose between different subscription lengths of a product in the cart. A plan selection highlights the best value of a 2-year subscription plan over a one-year or a one-month subscription plan.
Price type
Options you can use to calculate taxation based on the purchase price.
- Gross price displays a tax-inclusive price in the shopping cart.
- Net price displays a tax-exclusive price in the shopping cart. Price type is irrelevant for US & Canadian customers. The purchase price always equals the net purchase price, on which the sales tax is calculated.
Product
Item and/or service you offer to customers using the Cleverbridge platform.
Product attribute
Number of settings enabling you to define how the product is made available to customers in the cart, such as order quantity, product selection, or trial download URL.
Product category
Category you can use for product setup which effects taxation. Main categories are digital goods and services. Digital goods include downloadable items like computer software, digital books. Services include software support, maintenance, or training.
Product characteristic
Product property containing options for the product variation that customers select from in the cart.
Product feature
Main features added to a product version appearing in the product selection in the cart. Adding product features makes it easier for customers to choose between the different versions suggested in the cart.
Product group
Product clustering based on shared product characteristics and used for reporting purposes.
Product ID
A unique number assigned automatically to a product once you set it up in the Cleverbridge platform. The product ID is part of checkout links built in the Link Generator. You can also use product IDs to search for a specific product in the Cleverbridge platform.
Product image
Uploaded image that displays in cart when the product is part of a recommendation and/or Cleverbridge-hosted catalog. The location of this image depends on the template you use.
Product list
Summary of products that you select for a particular purpose, such as applying price rules for that specific cluster of products - i.e., list of all security products. You can use product lists to filter subscription and performance analytics.
Product name
Name that displays to customers in the checkout process.
Product selection
A pick list for customers to choose between different versions of a product in the cart. A product selection allows you to highlight the best value of a specific version over other versions of the product.
Product type
Type of product selected when adding a product to the Cleverbridge platform. Available product types are product, bundle, additional service, online backup, and license certificate.
Product variation
Suggestions of several product options displayed in the cart once a customer selects a specific product for purchase. You can set up product variations for language versions, license quantity, operating systems, and more, depending on the variety of your product portfolio.
Product version
Particular model of a product. One product can have different versions to suit different types of customers and for which different prices apply. Standard, professional, and enterprise are three versions of the same security product.
R
Recurring product Type of product where a customer purchases a subscription and is charged regularly on set billing intervals. This product type gives access to lifecycle management and retention tool.

V
Volume pricing Pricing model providing discounted prices based on the quantity of purchased products. Cleverbridge applies three volume pricing discounts: all-units discount, incremental discount, and top-down discount. For more information, see Volume pricing method.
W
Web key generator Dynamic license key generator that automatically generates license keys at the time of purchase and delivers them to the customer to activate the software.
