Add product selections
Offering customers a possibility to choose between different product versions can help you increase your average order value (AOV) and overall revenue. Product selections can include product versions with more extensive range of features.
The following is a business case example of setting up multiple product versions in a shopping cart:
Shieldware, Inc., a provider of anti-virus software for personal and professional use, aims to increase their AOV by offering three product versions for their Internet Security product:
- Basic at $59.93
- Basic Extended at $289.89
- Professional at $119.86 The most expensive version comes with additional features. Customers can then decide which version is best suited to their needs.
To set up different versions for a product, use our Product Selections feature available in Configure > Selection Menus in our web admin tool.
Product Selection Menus provides a pick list that helps your customers select the most advantageous product version offer. This can be interesting if you sell different packages of the same product and you wish to up-sell the customer.
The following example illustrates a customer choosing between the basic, basic extended, and professional versions of a product. The customer opts for the professional version, which offers greater value and more advanced features compared to the initially selected basic version. Discounts can be applied to further encourage selecting the professional option.
Add a Product Selection Menu
To add a Product Selection Menu to your shopping cart, do the following:
- Go to Configure > Selection Menus in our web admin tool.
- Click the Add Product Selection Menu button.
- Fill in the relevant information in the following sections.
- Click Save and Close.
General
Name: Enter a unique name for the Product Selection Menu.
Plan Characteristics Selection
Select up to three different product versions for one product.
When selecting product versions, you can input the key features for each assigned product, so they are displayed under each version in the cart. Highlighting product features helps customers easily compare and choose between different versions in the Product Selection Menu.
Use this option if you want to choose an existing characteristic.
- Select the Characteristic ID and click OK.
- Click Assign Product and choose the products you wish to include in Product Selection Menu.
- Click OK.
- Enter the main features for each assigned product so they appear under each product version in the cart. Product features make it easier for the customer to choose between different versions in Product Selection Menu.
Use this option if you want to create a new characteristic.
General Setup
- Internal Characteristic Name: Enter a unique name for the characteristic.
- Select Product Selection Menu Header: Enter a header for Product Selection Menu.
Options
- Select Product Option Header:
- Enter a header for the Product Selection Menu options and click Submit.
- Click Assign Product and choose the product you wish to include in Product Selection Menu.
- Click OK.
- Enter the main features for each assigned product so they appear under each product version in the cart. Product features make it easier for the customer to choose between different versions in Product Selection Menu.
Use this option if you want to create Product Selection Menu based on an existing template.
- Under General, enter a unique name for the characteristic.
- From the Templates list, choose one of the Product Selection Menus.
- Click Apply to select a template or Edit to adapt the template to your needs before submitting.
- Click Assign Product for the desired characteristic and choose the product you wish to include in Product Selection Menu.
- Click OK.
- Enter the main features for each assigned product so they appear under each product version in the cart. Product features make it easier for the customer to choose between different versions in Product Selection Menu.
