About Subscriptions
In Cleverbridge, a Subscription is the record of a customer’s ongoing contract for recurring billing of one or more products. It defines how and when the customer is billed and ties together the products, payment method, contacts, and documents that make up that customer’s relationship with you.
In this section, you’ll learn about the customer journey from activation to renewal, upgrade, or cancellation, along with the key events and transitions that occur along the way. You’ll also explore the two main subscription management data models available in Cleverbridge and how they differ. By understanding these fundamentals, you’ll have the context to configure your subscription strategy, guide customers through self-service options, and make effective use of Cleverbridge’s subscription management tools.
Subscription statuses and update options
Every subscription in Cleverbridge has a status that reflects its current state in the customer lifecycle—such as active, pending cancellation, or expired. These statuses determine what actions are available, both to you as the merchant and to your customers, and they influence how the subscription appears in the Subscription Management Portal and in backend tools.
