Tax overview
Selling digital goods and services globally requires careful attention to tax regulations. Your responsibilities depend on the business model defined in your Cleverbridge agreement.
When Cleverbridge acts as the Merchant of Record (MoR), Cleverbridge manages tax registration, calculation, collection, filing, remittance, and exemption handling. Under the Cleverbridge Service Provider (cSP) model, you remain responsible for tax obligations in the markets where you sell, unless your agreement specifies otherwise.
Areas covered
The tax documentation explains the rates applied to digital products, how customer tax exemptions work, how authorized users manage exemption documents in SCM, and how cSP clients connect SCM to Avalara AvaTax.
