Finnish Online Banking at a glance
Why offer Finnish Online Banking
Finnish Online Banking can help you provide a familiar local payment experience to customers who prefer to authorize purchases directly through their bank. As current market context, Paytrail describes online banking as the most commonly used payment method among Finnish consumers and lists the major domestic online banks it supports. See Paytrail payment methods.
Offering Finnish Online Banking can help you:
- Let eligible customers pay without entering card details.
- Keep login and authorization within the customer's bank-controlled environment.
- Provide a familiar local payment experience for customers in Finland.
- Receive the bank's payment result during the checkout flow.
The available banks shown to a customer can change. Do not use a hard-coded bank list as an availability guarantee.
Cleverbridge order flow
- The customer selects Finland as the country and EUR as the currency.
- The customer selects Finnish Online Banking.
- The customer chooses an available bank.
- Cleverbridge redirects the customer to the bank's online-banking interface.
- The customer logs in and authorizes the payment using the method requested by the bank.
- The bank returns the payment result, and the customer returns to the Cleverbridge confirmation page.
- After a confirmed payment, Cleverbridge sends the applicable order and delivery information.
Payment confirmation
The bank returns a payment result during the checkout flow. Cleverbridge confirms the order and sends delivery information only after it receives and processes a successful result.
Do not use instant as a general promise for settlement, delivery, or refund timing. Those timings can differ from the customer-facing authorization and confirmation experience.
Paytrail's consumer payment information explains that Finnish online-bank payments can use bank eBanking or open-banking interfaces and that the methods offered can vary by online store. This supports keeping the customer flow bank-controlled and avoiding a hard-coded bank list.
